Lyre’s was created to change the way the world drinks. Inspired in 2017 by Mark Livings, he saw the challenges of balancing a professional life as MD of a successful business with the need to stay social at the same time. This was a broader trend he recognised and saw in his team, especially when the no or low alcohol drink options always involved a compromise. He asked the question – how can we all stay social, without compromising taste? 3 years in the development and launched in 2019, Lyre’s was the product created to give the freedom of a sophisticated no or low alcoholic drink choice while staying social.

Lyre‘s is a non-alcoholic spirit designed to mimic the taste, bouquet and mouthfeel of their alcoholic originals entirely in a non-alcoholic format. Our ambition was to deliver to the world the loved, beautiful, time-tested and complex adult flavours of a quality spirit in a guilt- free format. How is It Made? Lyre’s is a mix of natural flavours, extracts and distillates derived from fruits, botanicals, spices, nuts, seeds and other natural sources. Some of our products contain flavour notes that are a tribute to alcohol’s warmth on the palate – we achieve this through blending natural extracts of pepper berries and other plant-based compounds. Like other non-alcoholic spirits, Lyre’s lacks ethanol, which in an original spirit provides stability and preserves the beverage. Lyre’s requires a preservative to remain safe for consumption as well as an acid, such as citrus fruit derived acids, for product stability. We’re pleased to say all of the Lyre’s range is 70-90% lower in calorie than the original spirit on which we are crafting our homages to. Lyre's also won a number of awards, including some of the world's most influential wine and spirits competitions.

Please briefly describe how your product communicates with consumers

This unique spirit has been impossibly crafted to capture the essence of a Traditional Chinese Baijiu, a grain spirit that has been a synonymous with flavours that are distinct and recipes that have lasted thousands of years. Lyre’s spirits don’t just mimic, they have their own distinction as a premium non-alcoholic beverage. Animal: Dragon TASTING NOTES: This meticulously crafted homage to a timeless classic is an exquisite mélange of the finest flavours, evoking notes of tropical fruits, spices and aniseed. It’s also rather delish. BOUQUET: The nose is rather fresh and fragrant. Bold scents of pineapple and citrus orchard balanced with fragrant spices. PALATE: Complex and diverse, ripe tropical fruits and rich umami notes followed by a persistent and firm acidity. A long finish comes as promised which is respectable. FOOD/DRINK MATCH: Lyre’s Baijiu is recommended sipped on its own (no ice, room temperature). Serve with Mediterranean tonic water and a ruby grapefruit wedge as garnish to make a perfect Baijiu Tonic. Or, mix with Lyre’s Orange Sec, Lemon Juice & Cranberry Juice to make a signature Baijiu Cosmopolitan.
