Ms. Tan Yi Min graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering and is currently a final year Ph. D student in NUS, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Through her educational training, she has gained knowledge in the areas of both biomedical and food technology. Her research work includes experiences in biomedical modelling, biomaterials applications and food security. She has also contributed to international journal papers and conferences. During her years of postgraduate studies, she collaborated with the A*STAR Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (A*STAR SIMTech) and Food Innovation and Resource Centre (FIRC) at the Singapore Polytechnic in the development of biopolymer composite films and blends for applications in food packaging. A novel natural food packaging film for extended shelf-life was successfully developed with promising results that could increase food safety and also bring about both environmental and economic benefits.
