James Zhou
Global Vice President, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC); Chairman and CEO, LDC North Asia

An industry veteran with a strong trading background and an in-depth understanding of the Chinese market, James joined LDC in January 2016 from Cargill after a ten-year tenure, which saw him rise through the ranks of several key trading, risk management and managerial roles within the Grains and Oilseeds division in China. In his last position as Vice President, Grains & Oilseeds Supply Chain for Greater China and Korea, James was responsible for trading, risk management, commercial profitability, and the general management of ports and crush plants.
James began his career in the agricultural commodities sector at Wilmar as Trading Manager for Oils & Fats, based in China. Since then, he has guest-lectured at the DCE Futures Academy and Tsinghua University, and is regularly invited as a speaker at high-profile industry events and conferences.
James holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from China’s Fuyang Teacher’s College, where he majored in English Language and Literature. He has also acquired postgraduate English Language teaching qualifications from the National Institute of Education in Singapore, as well as a Masters of Arts in Linguistics from the National University of Singapore.
