Product concept, highlights and added value

Background of Product Development
In 2022, the first “minced meat” product concept of “plus a little flavor” launched the “minced meat popping spice Ma Po Tofu seasoning”, after the launch of many consumers warmly loved, single-month sales exceeded 1 million; 2023, many competitor brands to follow the imitation, market competition has strengthened. In 2023, many competing brands followed suit and competition in the market intensified, so we determined to upgrade our products internally to provide consumers with better products while consolidating our leading position in the market.
Flavor development history
The key direction of this product upgrade is to “restore the authentic Sichuan Mapo Tofu”, the flavor direction falls on the “authentic”, in order to achieve this flavor goal, before and after spending more than a year, the local in Sichuan to carry out multi-dimensional “flavor local traceability”. 1-Visiting Chengdu's local residents to understand the public's tastes
Taste Plus and 1000 Snacks jointly conducted a field survey to find out the flavor of Mapo Tofu, which is a favorite dish of Chengdu residents, by walking on the streets of Chengdu and entering the kitchens of local residents.
2-Visiting Sichuan cuisine masters and Chengdu's Sichuan restaurants to find authentic flavors
We interviewed more than 10 local scholars, Sichuan cuisine masters and Sichuan cuisine catering practitioners to explore the evolution of Ma Po Tofu's flavor from raw materials to culinary techniques; at the same time, we searched for a number of Sichuan cuisine restaurants in Chengdu, ranging from the Black Pearl Michelin upscale restaurant to the street-side community stalls, to learn about the understanding of local catering for the evolution of authentic flavors, and to distill the direction of the flavors that we would like to restore.
3-Visit the origin of raw materials to explore the authenticity from the source.
We firmly believe that “good raw materials bring good flavor”, and a good Mapo Tofu cannot be separated from good raw materials. We went to PI county bean paste garden and Hanyuan pepper production area to understand the difference between the color and flavor of different years of bean paste; the difference between different varieties of pepper aroma and numbness, as well as the use of cooking in the dishes.
4- Determination of flavor direction
Determine the direction of the product after the local flavor traceability, so as to accurately land the product.

1-Authenticity in flavor selection
We believe in the power of classic flavors, which have been passed down through the centuries. Therefore, we also hope that the most authentic local flavors can be easily reproduced by users at home.
2-Consumers' health demands further increase, good raw materials and good quality
The core demand of users' feedback is the healthiness of seasoning, so this product prioritizes the use of real raw materials to restore the flavor in a more natural way. On the basis of achieving zero preservatives and zero synthetic colors, we have upgraded the pork in the raw material to beef at any cost to ensure a better taste. Meanwhile, two different types of bean paste are used in the recipe, one is aged bean paste brewed for more than a year to enhance the flavor with its unique soy sauce aroma, while the other is red oil bean paste brewed for a shorter period of time to increase the color performance. Chili peppers and peppercorns were also selected several times, and at least two different varieties of high-quality raw materials were finally used, in an effort to better present the classic flavor of the dish.
3- Convenient operation for consumers
The product continues to be packaged in the same series of small bags, which is light and practical, and can be prepared in a single bag without the need to prepare additional complex ingredients, thus easily restoring the flavor of authentic Mapo Tofu. During the user research, it was found that many users often need to buy a lot of infrequently used ingredients to make a special dish, and then leave them unused after one use. The design of this sachet solves this problem, making cooking easy and burden-free.
The package is specially designed with a water filling line. Considering that many families do not have measuring instruments, it is not intuitive to directly indicate the amount of 150ml of water, so the pouch itself can also be used as a water measuring container. In addition, the earlier packaging was thicker due to the sterilization process and was prone to spills when torn open. After the process improvement, the new packaging is lighter and thinner, easy to tear, and does not contain preservatives, which ensures the stability of the product and significantly improves the experience of using it.
