Design Story
Since the plastic ban enforced and the trend of ESG sustainable development, Plastic waste has become a global public nuisance and the largest source of ocean pollution. More than 12 million tons of plastic waste are discharged into the sea every year, most of which are disposable product packaging.
Currently, the petroleum-based PE film are used for the packaging of canned beer and canned beverages, which takes more than 200 years to degrade. During the process of production, use and degradation, a large number of plasticizers and carbon dioxide will be released, seriously endangering marine life and consumer health. From a technical point of view, there is no existed technologies to solve the pollution and hazards of plasticizers.
We hope to solve this problem from the source. By means of the use of fully degradable plant fiber materials and design optimization, the petroleum-based PE films can be completely replaced and achieve the goals of less plastic, less carbon emissions and recycling.

1、Material processing: Wheat straw is crushed and ground into nanoscale plant fibers, which are then sterilized at high temperature and added with 5% starch as a binder to make a pulp board.
2、Specific molding process: Adopting the widely used dry compression molding process, the slurry board is directly formed on the mold.

The purpose of this work is to replace the traditional petroleum-based plastic PE or PET. Therefore, environmental protection and sustainable development are the core values and design concepts of this work.
