
Tojiro Kataya joined Genbridge Capital in 2019 and currently serves as Research Director. He is responsible for conducting in-depth industry and company research to enhance the fund's understanding of the consumer landscape and empower its ecosystem partners. His work focuses on the consumer sectors and sub-industries in China and Japan, with a particular interest in how leading companies navigate economic cycles through innovation.
To date, Tojiro has completed nearly 100 in-depth studies on benchmark companies and niche sectors. His research has been widely applied in pre-investment decision-making, post-investment value creation, fund communications, and industry engagement, and continues to influence entrepreneurs, executives, and investors across the consumer sectors in both China and Japan.
Tojiro holds a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Duke University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Doshisha University in Japan. He began his internship with Genbridge Capital in 2018 while pursuing his graduate studies. His academic research focused on the spread and adaptation of Asian pop music, including cover song phenomena.
